History

Founded in 1958, Silonex designs, manufactures and markets optoelectronic devices and sensor solutions. Our scientific intellectual capacity has been an important ingredient since our founding and has resulted in innovations in research, development, engineering and automation.

Silonex has a distinguished place in the history of solid state manufacturing. We offered some of the earliest photocells and did a lot of the original research and development of this technology. We still maintain a leadership position in deveopment and use of technology. For example, in the manufacture of CdS products, Silonex is unique in that we utilize three distinctly different procedures, making use of the best features of each. This produces products that offer the best possible performance for their applications.

Silonex has developed into a versatile design and manufacturing corporation. We have built up its engineering and manufacturing capabilities in all aspects of a sensor solution including lenses and light gathering, optoelectronic components, electronic circuits, packaging and production tooling. This is backed up by strong quality control processes, a responsive customer support organization and an international distribution network.

Throughout its existance, Silonex excelled at resourcefulness and innovation. In-house design and fabrication has resulted in state-of-the-art automation of manufacturing equipment and dedicated production tooling.

In 2004, Silonex became part of the Casco Products Company which is part of Sequa, a $1.8 billion company listed on the NYSE (SQA.A, SQA.B). This has enhanced Silonex' ability to handle large design projects and provides a diversified international manufacturing capability. Silonex currently has a dedicated manufacturing operation in a modern Casco facility in China.
